The Westbank First Nation has now released official election results.
They confirm Roxanne Lindley defeated longtime Chief Robert Louie by 34 votes, garnering 175 votes against Louie's 141 votes.

Roxanne Lindley was elected chief of the Westbank First Nation by 34 votes, garnering 175 votes against incumbent Robert Louie's 141 votes.
Lindley becomes the first female chief of the WFN.
In total, 390 votes were cast out of 605 eligible voters, a 64 per cent voter turnout.
Additionally, Fernanda Alexander, Christopher Derrickson, Brian Eli and Thomas Konek were elected to council.
The new chief and council will be officially sworn in on Sept. 20.

The Westbank First Nation confirms Roxanne Lindley will take position as chief by just 34 votes.
The historic win places her as the first female chief of the WFN. In a release sent early Friday morning, the WFN reports Thursday’s election saw three new nominees elected.
The unofficial election results saw Lindley, daughter of WFN’s first Chief Norman Lindley, receive 175 votes for chief, 34 votes more than Robert Louie.
Louie had been chief since 2002, and previously from 1986 to 1996.
Unofficial results saw Roxanne Lindley (Chief), Chris Derickson (Councillor), Brian Eli (Councillor), Fernanda Alexander (Councillor) and Thomas Konek (Councillor) elected.
Official election results will be posted on WFN’s website later today, while the new chief and council will be sworn in at an Oath of Office meeting Tuesday Sept. 20.
Each will serve a three-year term in office.
