Hwy 97 reopened in Peachland after serious crash

DriveBC reports Highway 97 was reopened at the scene of last night's crash in Peachland at 12:30 a.m.

UPDATE 11:15 p.m.

Highway 97 remains closed at Antlers Beach. DriveBC does not have an estimated time of reopening, but AIM Roads said on Facebook there is "medium confidence" of a midnight reopening. The next update is due at that time. Updates on this closure overnight can be found on DriveBC.

UPDATE 10 p.m.

DriveBC has now confirmed the closure of Highway 97 at Antlers Beach. There is no estimated time of reopening. 

ORIGINAL 9 p.m.

Traffic is stopped on Highway 97 south of Peachland due to a serious crash. 

Initial reports indicate the head-on collision between a pickup and another vehicle on the hill near Antlers Beach has closed the highway. 

Roads contractor AIM Roads tweeted that emergency crews are en route to the scene. Motorists are asked to avoid the area. 

DriveBC has not published anything on the closure at this point yet.
