Young cow moose safe after falling through Peachland bridge

Moose rescued from bridge

A young cow moose is back roaming the woods after being freed from a bridge just off Trepanier Bench Road.

Joedy Wilson who works for Sunny slope landscape says his company discovered the moose about 10 a.m. Monday, and contacted the Conservation office.

Wilson describes how they were able to get her free.

"First (conservation) sedated it, then we put a couple of straps around it, and lifted it up with the bobcat, got its legs out from between the boards on the bridge," he said.

"We got her to a safe spot and laid her down. They gave her another drug to counteract the sedation and she was on her way."

Pictures showed the moose was trapped well above her hind legs.

None the worse for wear.

On their Twitter feed, Conservation Officers said they were able to successfully release the moose back into the wild.
