Burglars break into West Kelowna clothing store through roof

Thieves break through roof

A West Kelowna business owner is shaken up after thieves broke into his clothing store early Friday morning.

Stu Foord, the owner of Elevate Hype and Sport on Ross Road, has only been open for a few months. The former CFL running back was shocked when he woke up to missed calls from the police saying there was a break in through the ceiling of his shop between the hours of 3 and 4 a.m.

"They came in through the roof, scaled around in the roof until they found a spot to puncture through the indoor ceiling. They grabbed some garments and other items from our store and made their way out the back door,” described Foord.

Fortunately for Foord, police were on a routine patrol of the area shortly after the thieves exited the building. When officers approached, the crooks dropped most of the stolen goods and ran.

"Some of the items were recovered so we’re super happy about that,” explained Foord.

He understands times are tough right now for everyone and isn’t upset, but wants the suspects to come forward.

The store will reopen Saturday after being closed Friday to allow for the police to investigate.

Foord heaped praise upon the RCMP, grateful they managed to recover some of the stolen items and that the situation wasn’t worse.
