Manhunt comes up empty

A police helicopter and dog unit was used Thursday in the search for a man wanted for breaching court-imposed conditions in West Kelowna.

RCMP received a call at approximately 1 p.m. Thursday from a concerned citizen who spotted an individual, well-known to area residents.

"RCMP were notified and a manhunt was launched (the man) was not located and was last spotted on Lower Glenrosa Rd. by Powers Creek Church," a neighbourhood resident who wished to remain anonymous.

West Kelowna RCMP continue to look for the 24-year-old man but wouldn't confirm his identity.

"Yesterday afternoon, Police Dog Services and Air Services assisted in the search around the area of Gellatly Road in West Kelowna but were not able to locate the man," said Cpl. Tammy Lobb, who also confirmed the man is facing arrest for breaching conditions of his release order.

West Kelowna RCMP is seeking charge approval and an arrest warrant is being sought at this time.
