A Celebration of Life for Barbara La Casse will be held:

With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Barbara La Casse (nee: Vaughan-Birch) on October 23rd, 2021, at the age of 92 at Kelowna General Hospital.

Predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ernest (Ernie) La Casse and parents Kenneth and Phyllis Vaughan-Birch of Peachland. She leaves behind her loving partner Herbert (Bert) Fredin, son Daniel (Bev), daughter Louise, son Larry, grandson Sean (Cynthia), great-grandson Tarik (Taylor); stepchildren Terry (Jean), Wayne (Maureen), Tina (Doug), 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on April 4th, 1929. At 5, the family moved to England for 5 years before returning to Vancouver where she finished school and met and married her husband, Ernie. They moved to Prince Rupert, Haines, Alaska and in 1966 returned to Canada to live in Kamloops later moving to the Central Okanagan and finally settled in Peachland. After the passing of her husband Ernie in 2002, she met Bert in 2012.

Barbara made many friends along her travels and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and the Free Masons and Shriners of the Okanagan.

We thank the doctors and nurses of the Kelowna General Hospital Emergency and ICU departments for their compassionate care.

A celebration of life to honour Barbara will be announced in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Barbara’s name to the Masonic Community Charities Fund C/O The Grand Lodge of B.C. and Yukon, 8555 Government Street, Burnaby, B.C. V3M 4S9, or a charity of your choice.

Barbara will be greatly missed. She gave a lot to Peachland as a Lion and in many other capacities. We enjoyed her sense of humour. Condolences to Bert and the members of Barbara’s family.
