VESAK, Jessie

VESAK, Jessie

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jessie Vesak, our beloved mother and spouse of Edward Vesak.

Jessie was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in September of 1935. She was the youngest of two children.

In the late forties, her family moved to Ocean Falls BC, where she graduated from high school and began work in the local paper mill. In 1955, she married Edward Vesak and together they raised three children – Alexander, Robert and Allison.

Jessie was a beautiful soul. She always had a twinkle in her eye and her infectious smile would brighten any room. Jessie was known for her warmth, her caring, and her kindness. She touched the hearts of everyone around her.

In her later years, Jessie’s health steadily declined due to Primary Progressive Aphasia, which prevented her ability to communicate verbally and eventually robbed her of her mobility. Despite the challenges she faced, she maintained her faith, her grace and her poise.

Jessie’s final year was spent in Kamloops, where she was lovingly cared for by the staff at the KSV. We owe them our gratitude for their kindness, compassion, and for preserving her dignity in her final days.

Jessie is survived by her husband Edward, her children, Alexander, Robert (Carol) and Allison (Bob), her grandchildren Sean, Tessa, Jillian, and Devon, and her great grandchildren.

Jessie left us in January of 2023 and even though her passing leaves a void in our lives, we are comforted knowing she is now at peace. She will live on in our hearts forever.

Jessie requested that there be no public service or celebration but wanted to help science learn more about Primary Progressive Aphasia.
