WEBER, Veronica Valerie

WEBER, Veronica Valerie

Veronica's family is sad to announce that she died of cancer on March 18, 2021 at Kelowna Hospice House.

Veronica was predeceased by her brother Colin in 2015. She is survived by her sons Sean Weber of Victoria and Steven Weber of Kelowna as well as her brother Vic Kowal (Starla) of Kelowna.

After being born on September 22, 1953, in Kamloops, BC, Veronica grew up in what was then North Kamloops, and graduated from Norkam High. Some time after graduation, she moved to Calgary where she worked various jobs before settling in as a “Land Man” in the oil industry. During this time, she met and married John Weber. Both of her sons were born in Calgary before the family moved in 1992 to Balikpapan, Indonesia, where they remained until 1997. At that time, following a divorce, Veronica and her sons moved to Kelowna, closer to family, where she was employed in various administrative jobs, culminating in work with Interior Health.

Her ability to connect quickly with other people was notable and she easily formed good relationships with co-workers and neighbours. She acted as a “mother figure” to several friends of her sons, often providing valuable advice and guidance to them.

Veronica had a great sense of humour which was undiminished by serious health problems over a period of several years. She also had a unique laugh which was highly infectious – she never had to laugh alone. Veronica lifted the spirits of anyone who was in her presence.

Special thanks to the staff of 6 West at KGH for their outstanding care of Veronica and to the staff at Hospice House.

Due to the current pandemic, there will be no formal service.

    To Vic and Starla,

Such sad news. Though it's been many, many years, I still remember her for being a very kind and compassionate person, in many ways like her mother.

    Sincere condolences,

    Mike Hilland
