It comes with great sadness to announce the death of our mom at the age of 92. She passed away peacefully in the early morning at the Marjorie Willoughby Snowden Memorial Hospice in Kamloops, BC. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond E. Westlund, sister Ruby Ramsell and brothers Earl and Spencer Robillard. She is survived and her memory cherished by her sisters, Bernice Haller and Vera Dodge as well as her children Linda, Shirley, Raylene, Robert, Allen, many nieces and nephews, 6 grand children and 3 great grand children.
For over 50 years including this year mom enjoyed the summer months at her property on Niskonlith Lake. The lake was always a gathering place for family and friends. Over the years, Mom, her sisters, brothers and their families laughed a lot, partied hardy, played cards, horseshoes, washoos, and hung out at the beach. The lake has remained the focus of everyones summer even after the wildfire in 2003 which claimed many of the cabins and out buildings on the property. In the later years when mom, her sisters Vera and Bernie became less able, they still enjoyed rock painting, coffee gab and crab sessions with their daughters and nieces and 4:00 happy hour was the highlight of their day. In the evenings they played crib together and watched old sitcoms, their favs being, I Love Lucy and The Waltons.
Mom was well known for her beautiful crochet work, she gave most of her creations to family and friends as gifts and some for draw prizes at Christmas. We will all cherish the unique Christmas ornaments that she crocheted and decorated her tree with each year.
Mom’s memory remained sharp all these years and she had so many great stories of her childhood that she shared. We are so going to miss those special moments with our mom. Rest in peace mom you will be forever in our hearts.
