Kelowna Fringe Festival Rebels Take the Stage Jan.28-Feb.4

For Immediate Release-Jan.19, 2024-Calling all theatre rebels! Wear your bear and get ready for Rebel with the Fringe, Kelowna International Fringe Festival 2024 is busting on to stages this fall.
Originally slated for August 2023, but postponed due to the fires, New Vintage Theatre volunteers have been hard at work with theatre loving community rescheduling, fundraising, and pulling together the thrilling return of this event.
Festival Artistic Director Bonnie Gratz is wowed by the calibre of artists and variety of offerings in this year’s festival, some of which took place in the fall.
“The festival is mostly comprised of original new works from artists from Washington, DC to Victoria. Some are solo shows like: Jamie Hill’s Sheila!, My Body is My Home by Karen L. Wilson and It Is What It Is by Taryn Anderson. Audiences can also catch entertaining interactive performances like XXXY by Scott Kirk, The Best of the Black Cat Cabaret and Improv Against Humanity featuring comedy favourites Bonnie Esson, Stephen Keppler and uber-talented collaborators Mark Wells, Peter Church and Karliana DeWolff.”, says Gratz.
There are also highly anticipated shows like Kelowna Ghost Stories, conceived by Kelowna Ghost Tours’ Grant Richard and a new comedy, Reunions about an a classic reunion and a high school reunion like no other. A Musical Revue-Three’s Company has theatre fans buzzing waiting for the talented trio of Corey Hendricks, Tayler Harrison and Josh Richardson to premiere a new revue of show tunes. Sadec:1965 by international touring storytelling Flora Le returns to Kelowna after winning Best of the Kelowna Fringe in 2022.
“What we are truly proud of is that 100% of ticket sales go to the performers. To support the festival and the many costs that arose out of the cancellation and remount of this event we are asking people to purchase $5 Fringe Bear pins which show the world you believe in the arts.”, says Festival Organizer.
With 10 different productions and over 30 performances, the organizers say Okanagan audiences can truly expect the unexpected at Kelowna International Fringe Festival. Programs are available online and info/tickets about the entire line up is available at www.kelownafringe.ca. Tickets are already selling briskly for all shows so audiences are encouraged to get out, Wear A Bear and get Fringing.
