FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Ogopogo Rotary’s Annual Mystery Whisky Tasting Takes Place This Weekend!
Saturday, February 24th, 7 p.m. at Okanagan College
Interested in learning more about whisky while also making a difference in the community?
The Ogopogo Rotary is hosting its annual Mystery Whisky Tasting this Saturday evening with proceeds supporting the Okanagan College Foundation and other local charities.
Whisky ambassador Mark Dixon says the event isn’t your usual sip and go whisky tasting
. A whisky ambassador will guide participants through a mystery tasting of seven of Scotland’s finest single malt whiskies, some of which are up to 25 years old, from a range of unique distilleries.
“One of our experts from Scotland will take you through how to test each whisky and to identify each one by its own unique characteristics,” says Dixon.
“The whiskies we’ve chosen will be a carefully curated selection
, designed to challenge your senses and taste buds.”
The whisky will be paired with appetizers and homemade shortbread. Hosted at Okanagan College, the event will also feature a silent auction, 50/50 draw and door prizes.
Since its inception, the scotch tasting has raised more than $50,000 for local nonprofits.
"We can’t thank the Kelowna Ogopogo Rotary Club enough," says Okanagan College Foundation Executive Director Helen Jackman.
"Past events raised $15,000 for our Health Sciences Centre, which is now educating hundreds of health-care students to serve in our community. Cheers to that and a toast to the success of the 2024 whisky tasting.”
This year, proceeds to the Okanagan College Foundation will support the Thrive Here campaign for a new Recreation and Wellness Centre on the Kelowna campus. As an added bonus, the proceeds will be matched by fellow Rotarians Cliff and Lois Serwa through the Serwa Spirit Match. Inspired by the power of sport to transform lives, the Serwas are matching all donations to the Recreation and Wellness Centre up to $500,000.
